Is your Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S controller suffering from stick drift, unwanted movement or an analogue stick that no longer responds correctly? Our Xbox Series X/S controller joystick repair replaces the faulty analogue stick module and restores accurate controller movement.
This repair starts from £19.99, with the option to select the left or right joystick and upgrade to compatible Hall Effect analogue sticks where available.
Repairs are carried out at our Bolton, Greater Manchester repair centre, with a UK-wide repair service available for customers throughout the country.
Common Xbox Controller Stick Drift Symptoms
Analogue stick faults can appear in several different ways. Common symptoms include:
• Character moves without touching the joystick
• Camera slowly moves or rotates by itself
• Joystick constantly pulls in one direction
• Movement does not return correctly to centre
• Irregular or inaccurate analogue movement
• Excessive dead zone around the centre position
• One direction fails to respond correctly
These symptoms are commonly referred to as controller stick drift.
Xbox Series X/S Joystick Replacement
The analogue joystick module is soldered directly to the controller circuit board. Repair therefore requires the controller to be dismantled and the faulty joystick module removed from the PCB before a replacement can be fitted.
Our engineers remove the defective analogue stick module, install the replacement and check the controller movement before reassembly.
You can select whether the left stick, right stick or both sticks require attention using the options on this page.
Hall Effect Joystick Upgrade
Where compatible, we also offer an optional Hall Effect joystick upgrade.
Traditional controller analogue sticks normally use potentiometers to measure movement. These components can wear over time and may eventually contribute to stick drift.
Hall Effect joystick technology uses magnetic sensing to measure the stick position rather than relying entirely on traditional resistive contacts. This can provide improved resistance to the type of wear that commonly causes analogue stick drift.
Hall Effect sticks are an optional upgrade and can be selected when ordering the repair.
Joystick Repair Is Different From Thumbstick Replacement
This repair is for the internal analogue joystick module responsible for detecting movement.
It does not automatically replace the external rubber thumbstick cap that your thumb rests on.
If the rubber thumbstick itself is worn, damaged or missing, this is a separate repair option listed on our website.
What Is Included in the Repair?
• Controller inspection
• Removal of the faulty analogue joystick module
• Replacement joystick installation
• Left or right stick selection
• Hall Effect upgrade option where selected
• Controller movement testing
• Reassembly and final functional check
• 3-month warranty on the repair
Custom Controllers
We do not carry out this repair on custom or heavily modified controllers.
This is because aftermarket shells, modified wiring, paddles, custom boards or other non-standard components can substantially alter the internal layout and increase the risk of unrelated damage during repair.

Xbox Series Controller Stick Drift FAQs
How much does Xbox Series controller stick drift repair cost?
Our Xbox Series X/S controller joystick repair starts from £19.99. The final price depends on the repair options selected, including which joystick requires replacement and whether a Hall Effect upgrade is chosen.
Can stick drift on an Xbox Series controller be repaired?
Yes. If the analogue joystick module is causing the drift, the faulty module can be removed from the controller circuit board and replaced.
What causes Xbox controller stick drift?
Stick drift commonly develops as the internal analogue joystick components wear or become unreliable, causing the controller to register movement even when the stick is centred.
Can you replace both Xbox controller joysticks?
Yes. You can select the required joystick repair options when ordering the service.
Are Hall Effect sticks better for stick drift?
Hall Effect sticks use magnetic position sensing and avoid some of the wear associated with traditional potentiometer-based joystick sensing. They can therefore be a useful upgrade for customers looking for improved resistance to future stick drift.
Does the repair include the rubber thumbstick?
No. This repair replaces the internal analogue joystick module. Replacement of the external rubber thumbstick is a separate service.
Does the repair have a warranty?
Yes. The completed joystick repair is covered by our 3-month repair warranty for the original repaired fault.
