Is the joystick or Circle Pad on your New Nintendo 3DS XL drifting, sticking, moving by itself or no longer responding correctly? The Circle Pad may also have snapped, become loose or suffered physical damage through normal use.

Console Wizard provides a professional New Nintendo 3DS XL joystick and Circle Pad repair for £44.99. We inspect the analogue joystick assembly and Circle Pad and replace the faulty or damaged components required to restore normal directional control.

This service is specifically for the main Circle Pad joystick on the New Nintendo 3DS XL 2015 model. It does not cover faults with the smaller C-Stick located above the A/B/X/Y buttons.

New Nintendo 3DS XL Joystick & Circle Pad Repair

The main analogue control on the New Nintendo 3DS XL consists of an internal joystick mechanism operated by the external Circle Pad. Wear or physical damage to either part can make games difficult to control accurately.

Common New Nintendo 3DS XL joystick faults include:

    • Joystick drifting or moving without being touched
    • Character continually walking in one direction
    • Joystick sticking while playing games
    • Inaccurate or erratic movement
    • Certain directions not responding correctly
    • Circle Pad physically broken or snapped
    • Circle Pad loose or damaged
    • Joystick movement no longer smooth

Our engineers will inspect the joystick assembly and Circle Pad to determine which component is responsible for the problem and replace the damaged or faulty parts required as part of the repair.

New 3DS XL Joystick Drift Repair

Joystick drift occurs when the New Nintendo 3DS XL detects movement from the analogue control even though you are not intentionally moving the Circle Pad.

In a game, this can cause a character, camera or menu selection to move by itself. You may also find that the problem is more noticeable in one particular direction or that returning the Circle Pad to its centre position does not completely stop the movement.

If the internal analogue joystick mechanism has become worn or faulty, replacing the affected joystick assembly can restore accurate directional input.

Broken New Nintendo 3DS XL Circle Pad

The external Circle Pad can become worn, loose or physically damaged after prolonged use. It can also snap away from the internal joystick mechanism, leaving the small control underneath exposed.

If your New Nintendo 3DS XL still responds to movement but the external Circle Pad itself has broken or become damaged, we can replace the affected Circle Pad components as part of this repair service.

The console is professionally dismantled so the damaged parts can be accessed correctly rather than attempting to attach or glue a broken Circle Pad back into position.

New 3DS XL Joystick Sticking or Not Responding

A joystick does not have to drift to be faulty. The internal analogue mechanism can also become inaccurate, intermittent or fail to register movement correctly in one or more directions.

You may notice that the Circle Pad feels normal physically but the console does not consistently recognise your movement, or you may need to apply additional pressure to make the character move in a particular direction.

Where the internal joystick assembly is responsible, the faulty mechanism can be replaced to restore normal analogue control.

Circle Pad vs C-Stick – Which New 3DS XL Control Is Faulty?

The New Nintendo 3DS XL has two different analogue controls, so it is important to select the correct repair.

The Circle Pad is the larger analogue joystick positioned above the D-Pad on the left-hand side of the console. This is the control covered by this £44.99 repair service.

The C-Stick is the much smaller secondary analogue control positioned above the A/B/X/Y buttons on the right-hand side of the console.

    • Large left-hand analogue control = Circle Pad
    • Small right-hand control above A/B/X/Y = C-Stick
    • This repair covers the Circle Pad and its joystick mechanism
    • This repair does not cover C-Stick faults

If your problem is with the smaller C-Stick rather than the main Circle Pad, this is not the correct repair service.

New Nintendo 3DS XL Joystick Connector Damage

The internal joystick connects to the New Nintendo 3DS XL motherboard using a small flex connection and motherboard connector.

If the console has previously been dismantled and the motherboard connector itself has been physically broken or its locking mechanism damaged, replacing the joystick assembly will not repair the damaged connector.

Console Wizard provides a separate component-level motherboard connector repair service for damaged New Nintendo 3DS XL joystick connectors.

If we discover that the motherboard connector rather than the joystick is responsible for the fault, the console will require the appropriate connector repair service.

Is This Repair for the New Nintendo 3DS XL?

Yes. This repair is specifically for the New Nintendo 3DS XL released in 2015.

The New Nintendo 3DS XL is different internally from the earlier original Nintendo 3DS XL. Console Wizard provides separate repair services for the original Nintendo 3DS XL and the smaller New Nintendo 3DS.

If you are unsure which model you own, check the model before ordering so that you select the correct joystick repair service.

3-Month New Nintendo 3DS XL Joystick Repair Warranty

Our New Nintendo 3DS XL joystick and Circle Pad repair is supplied with a 3-month repair warranty covering the original repaired fault.

The warranty covers the joystick repair work carried out by Console Wizard. New accidental or physical damage occurring after the console has been returned is not considered the original repaired fault and is therefore not covered by the repair warranty.

Repair charges and previous repair attempts

If the repair cannot be completed reliably, the console is unrepairable or you decline the required work, £20 is retained for the engineering and diagnostic work. Where a standard diagnosis is followed by an accepted repair, that £20 is credited against the repair price. Return postage is separate.

Tell us about previous dismantling, replaced parts or repair attempts. Broken connectors, damaged tracks, missing parts or other damage can change the required work; any additional chargeable repair is explained before proceeding.

    Warranty and service outcome

A successfully completed repair includes a 3-month warranty from the repair date covering the original repaired fault. It does not cover unrelated faults or subsequent accidental, physical or liquid damage.

New Nintendo 3DS XL Joystick & Circle Pad Repair FAQs

How much does this New Nintendo 3DS XL service cost?

£44.99 is the current price for the standard or default selection. Postage is separate.

    What does this service cover?

Joystick and Circle Pad fault repair. The standard repair covers the main Circle Pad and joystick fault. A physically damaged motherboard connector, torn ribbon, liquid damage or unrelated control needs a separate assessment. This is not a general replacement of all console controls.

Can you investigate intermittent Circle Pad drift?

Yes. Tell us when the drift occurs and whether any directions fail to respond. Our engineers assess the Circle Pad and joystick assembly to identify the required repair.

Does this repair a broken board connector?

No. A connector with a broken latch or damaged contacts is a separate motherboard connector repair; fitting a joystick does not restore a broken socket.

What happens if the fault needs different work?

If the repair cannot be completed reliably, the console is unrepairable or you decline the required work, £20 is retained for the engineering and diagnostic work. Where a standard diagnosis is followed by an accepted repair, that £20 is credited against the repair price. Return postage is separate.

Can you assess a console with previous repair attempts?

Tell us about previous dismantling, replaced parts or repair attempts. Broken connectors, damaged tracks, missing parts or other damage can change the required work; any additional chargeable repair is explained before proceeding.

    What warranty applies?

A successfully completed repair includes a 3-month warranty from the repair date covering the original repaired fault. It does not cover unrelated faults or subsequent accidental, physical or liquid damage.

Can I use this service locally or from elsewhere in the UK?

Yes. Console Wizard serves Bolton and Greater Manchester from our Bolton repair centre, with a UK-wide postal service. Select the repair for your exact console model.
