Bottom-LCD faults can include coloured lines, black patches, missing areas of the picture, distortion, a blank display or physical internal LCD damage.

The bottom LCD is replaced and the existing touch-sensitive digitiser is retained and refitted where it is functioning correctly.
Bottom LCD and Touch Screen Are Different Parts
The lower Nintendo 3DS display contains a separate LCD screen and touch-sensitive digitiser.
The LCD produces the picture. The touch digitiser detects input from the stylus.
