Console Wizard provides professional iPad Air 1 fault diagnosis in Bolton, Greater Manchester, together with a UK-wide diagnosis and repair service.

For a £20 diagnostic fee, our engineers will investigate the fault with your iPad Air and determine which component or repair is required.

This service covers the Apple iPad Air 1st Generation A1474, A1475 and A1476.

Once the fault has been identified, we will contact you with an explanation of the problem and the appropriate repair cost.

If the repair proceeds successfully, the £20 diagnostic fee is deducted from the repair price. If the iPad is not repaired, the £20 diagnostic fee is non-refundable.

When Should I Choose iPad Air Diagnosis?

Select this service when you know your iPad Air has a problem but are unsure which repair to order.

It is also suitable where the symptoms do not clearly correspond with one of the individual repair services listed on our website.

Diagnosis can be used to investigate problems including:

    • iPad Air completely dead or not powering on
    • Charging problems
    • Battery problems
    • Screen or display faults
    • Touchscreen problems
    • Backlight faults
    • Unexpected shutdowns
    • Apple logo or boot problems
    • Wi-Fi or Bluetooth faults
    • Sound or speaker problems
    • Home button faults
    • Intermittent problems
    • Suspected logic-board faults

Rather than selecting a replacement component based only on the symptoms, our engineers can investigate the device and identify the appropriate repair.

What Does the £20 iPad Air Diagnostic Service Include?

Our £20 iPad Air 1 diagnostic service covers the engineer's time required to investigate the reported fault and determine the likely cause.

Depending on the symptoms, diagnosis may include relevant checks of:

    • Power and charging operation
    • Battery condition and behaviour
    • Lightning charging system
    • LCD and backlight operation
    • Touchscreen functionality
    • Internal connections
    • Logic-board circuitry
    • Wi-Fi and Bluetooth functions
    • Audio functions
    • Home button operation
    • Boot and software behaviour
    • Other hardware relevant to the reported symptoms

The exact diagnostic procedure depends on the symptoms and condition of the iPad.

iPad Air 1 Not Turning On

A completely dead iPad Air can have several possible causes.

The problem may involve the battery, Lightning charging port, charging circuitry, power circuitry or another component on the logic board.

Because several faults can produce the same no-power symptom, replacing the battery or charging port without diagnosis does not guarantee that the problem will be resolved.

Our diagnostic service allows the power fault to be investigated before the appropriate repair is recommended.

    iPad Air 1 Charging Problems

If your iPad Air will not charge, charges intermittently or fails to recognise a charger, the Lightning charging port is one possible cause.

However, charging problems can also result from the battery or electronic circuitry on the logic board.

Diagnosis is particularly useful when the Lightning port is not visibly damaged and the cause of the charging problem is unclear.

Once the fault has been identified, we can explain whether the iPad requires a charging port repair, battery replacement, logic-board repair or another service.

    iPad Air 1 Battery Problems

Battery faults can cause poor battery life, rapid discharge, unexpected shutdowns and unreliable battery percentage readings.

An iPad that does not power on or charge correctly does not automatically require a replacement battery.

If the symptoms do not clearly indicate a deteriorated battery, diagnosis can help distinguish between the battery and other charging or power faults.

iPad Air 1 Screen and Display Faults

Display problems can originate from the front digitizer, LCD, backlight system, internal connections or circuitry on the logic board.

    Symptoms can include:

    • No picture
    • Dim display or no backlight
    • Flickering screen
    • Lines across the display
    • Black patches or LCD bleeding
    • Distorted colours or image
    • Intermittent display

Diagnosis can determine whether the screen assembly itself is faulty or whether further investigation of the internal circuitry is required.

    iPad Air 1 Touchscreen Problems

The touchscreen digitizer is responsible for detecting touch input across the front of the iPad.

A faulty digitizer can cause areas of the screen to stop responding, intermittent touch operation or ghost touches.

However, touchscreen problems can also result from damaged internal connections or logic-board faults.

If the cause is unclear, diagnosis allows the touchscreen system to be investigated before replacement parts are fitted.

iPad Air 1 Logic-Board Fault Diagnosis

Many of the iPad Air's main electronic functions are controlled by components located on the logic board.

Logic-board faults can affect charging, power, display, backlight, communication and other functions.

Console Wizard can investigate faults at component level where appropriate rather than automatically assuming that the complete logic board needs to be replaced.

This is particularly useful for electronic faults where replacing an external component would not resolve the underlying problem.

    iPad Air Charging Circuit Faults

The Lightning port is only one part of the iPad Air charging system.

Electronic components on the logic board are also responsible for managing charging and communication through the Lightning connection.

An iPad can therefore have an undamaged charging port but still fail to charge or communicate correctly.

If diagnosis identifies a logic-board charging fault, we will explain the appropriate repair and cost before any additional chargeable work is carried out.

iPad Air Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Problems

Diagnosis can also be used for connectivity problems where the cause is unclear.

Symptoms may include Wi-Fi failing to connect, poor wireless operation, Bluetooth problems or functions becoming unavailable.

These faults can have several possible causes, so the device may require testing before a repair can be recommended.

iPad Air Sound and Audio Faults

If your iPad Air has lost sound or is experiencing intermittent audio, the problem may involve a speaker, internal connection or circuitry elsewhere within the device.

Diagnosis allows the reported audio problem to be investigated before replacement components are ordered or fitted.

    iPad Air Home Button Problems

The original iPad Air uses a physical Home button and does not have Touch ID fingerprint recognition.

If the Home button is intermittent, unresponsive or no longer operates correctly, diagnosis can determine whether the problem is associated with the button itself, its internal connection or another fault.

iPad Air Stuck on the Apple Logo or Not Booting

An iPad Air that remains on the Apple logo, repeatedly restarts or fails to complete the boot process can have either a software or hardware problem.

Where appropriate, our engineers can investigate the boot behaviour and determine whether the problem appears to be software-related or caused by faulty hardware.

If additional repair work is required, we will explain the available options before proceeding.

    Liquid-Damaged iPad Air

If your iPad Air has been exposed to water or another liquid, please select our dedicated iPad Air Liquid & Water Damage Inspection service instead.

Liquid-damaged devices require specific inspection for contamination, corrosion and potentially damaged components.

Our standard fault diagnosis service should therefore not be used as a substitute for the dedicated liquid damage inspection where the device is known to have suffered liquid exposure.

    What Happens After Diagnosis?

Once our engineers have identified the fault, we will contact you with an explanation of the problem and the repair cost.

No additional chargeable repair work will be carried out without your agreement.

If you approve the repair and it is successfully completed, the £20 diagnostic fee is deducted from the final repair price.

If the iPad cannot be repaired or you do not proceed with the repair, the £20 diagnostic fee is non-refundable.

The £20 Diagnostic Fee Is Not a Repair

The £20 diagnostic fee covers fault investigation and diagnosis.

It is not the cost of repairing the fault identified during diagnosis.

Any repair required will be explained and priced before additional chargeable work is undertaken.

Because diagnosis itself is not a completed repair, the diagnostic service does not receive our 3-month repair warranty.

If a subsequent repair is authorised and successfully completed, the applicable repair warranty will cover the original repaired fault.

Will iPad Air Diagnosis Delete My Data?

Fault diagnosis does not normally require an iPad to be erased simply to investigate a hardware problem.

However, some software, boot or storage-related faults may require procedures that could affect stored information.

Important data should therefore always be backed up wherever possible before submitting any electronic device for diagnosis or repair.

Data cannot be guaranteed during diagnosis or repair where the condition of the device prevents normal access or operation.

If the information stored on your iPad is particularly important, please tell us when submitting the device.

    iPad Air 1 A1474 A1475 and A1476 Diagnosis

This diagnostic service covers the Apple iPad Air 1st Generation A1474, A1475 and A1476.

    A1474 is the Wi-Fi model.

    A1475 is a Wi-Fi + Cellular model.

A1476 is another cellular variant of the original iPad Air.

The model number can normally be found on the rear casing of the iPad.

If you have an iPad Air 2, iPad Air 3 or another generation, please select the appropriate model before ordering diagnosis.

3-Month Warranty on Successful iPad Air Repairs

The £20 diagnostic service itself is not covered by the repair warranty because diagnosis is not a completed repair.

If diagnosis identifies a fault, you authorise the recommended repair and that repair is successfully completed, the applicable repair receives our standard 3-month warranty covering the original repaired fault.

The warranty applies to the repair carried out by Console Wizard and does not provide general cover for unrelated faults elsewhere within the iPad.
