Is your Original Xbox One no longer reading games or Blu-ray movie discs? The console may accept and eject discs normally but fail to recognise them, repeatedly attempt to read them or display an error when you try to launch a game.

Console Wizard provides a professional Xbox One Blu-ray laser repair for £54.99. Where the optical laser inside the Blu-ray drive has become weak or faulty, the defective laser assembly can be replaced while retaining the console's original Blu-ray drive.

This service is specifically for Original Xbox One disc-reading faults caused by a faulty Blu-ray laser. Mechanical faults where the console will not accept or eject discs are covered by our separate Xbox One disc loading and eject repair service.

    Xbox One Blu-ray Laser Repair

The Original Xbox One uses an optical laser inside its Blu-ray drive to read game and Blu-ray discs. Over time, the laser can deteriorate or develop a fault that prevents the console from reliably reading discs.

Common symptoms of an Xbox One laser fault include:

    • Xbox One not reading game discs
    • Blu-ray discs no longer recognised
    • Disc enters the drive but the game does not load
    • Console repeatedly attempts to read the disc
    • Some discs read while others do not
    • Increasingly unreliable disc recognition
    • Xbox One displays a disc-read error
    • Drive accepts and ejects discs normally but will not read them

Where testing confirms that the optical laser is responsible, the faulty laser assembly can be replaced to restore normal disc reading.

    Xbox One Not Reading Games

If your Xbox One accepts a game normally but does not recognise or load the disc, a failing Blu-ray laser is one possible cause.

The optical laser must correctly read information from the disc before the console can identify and launch the game. As the laser deteriorates, disc recognition can become intermittent before eventually failing completely.

You may initially notice that certain games require several attempts before they load, while other discs continue to work normally. As the fault develops, the console may stop recognising discs altogether.

Before booking a laser repair, we recommend checking more than one known-working game disc. A single scratched, contaminated or damaged disc does not necessarily indicate a fault with the Xbox One Blu-ray drive.

Xbox One Not Reading Blu-ray Discs

A faulty optical laser can also prevent the Original Xbox One from correctly reading Blu-ray movie discs.

If multiple known-working Blu-ray or Xbox One game discs are no longer recognised while the drive still physically accepts and ejects them correctly, the optical drive may require investigation.

Our engineers can test the Blu-ray drive and replace the laser where the optical assembly is responsible for the reading problem.

What Does the £54.99 Xbox One Laser Repair Include?

Our Original Xbox One Blu-ray laser repair costs £54.99 and includes:

    • Professional Xbox One dismantling
    • Blu-ray drive removal and inspection
    • Optical laser fault investigation
    • Faulty Blu-ray laser replacement where required
    • Original Xbox One Blu-ray drive retained
    • Professional console reassembly
    • Game disc reading tested following repair
    • Blu-ray drive operation tested
    • 3-month repair warranty

The standard Xbox One Blu-ray laser repair price is £54.99.

Why We Retain the Original Xbox One Blu-ray Drive

An Xbox One Blu-ray drive contains electronics associated with the original console, so replacing the entire optical drive with another complete drive is not the same as simply replacing a conventional PC optical drive.

For a laser fault, it is normally unnecessary to replace the complete Blu-ray drive. The original drive can be retained while the defective optical laser assembly is repaired or replaced.

This allows the console to retain its original drive electronics while addressing the component responsible for reading the disc.

Xbox One Laser Fault vs Disc Loading or Eject Fault

It is important to distinguish between an optical laser fault and a mechanical Blu-ray drive fault because they require different repairs.

If the Xbox One accepts and ejects discs normally but cannot read them, the laser or another disc-reading component may be responsible.

If the console will not accept a disc, will not eject a disc or makes mechanical noises while trying to load or eject, the drive mechanism may require repair instead.

    • Disc enters normally but will not read = possible laser fault
    • Games or Blu-ray discs repeatedly fail to recognise = possible laser fault
    • Disc will not enter the console = loading mechanism fault
    • Disc becomes stuck or will not eject = eject mechanism fault

Console Wizard provides a separate Xbox One disc loading and eject repair service for mechanical Blu-ray drive faults.

Does Every Xbox One Disc Read Error Mean the Laser Is Faulty?

No. A game failing to load does not automatically mean that the Xbox One laser needs replacing.

A dirty, scratched or damaged game disc can produce similar symptoms, and other Blu-ray drive or console faults can also prevent a disc from being recognised correctly.

We recommend trying several known-working discs before booking a repair. If multiple discs that work correctly in another console consistently fail to read in your Xbox One, this provides a stronger indication of a problem within the console's Blu-ray drive.

Can an Xbox One Blu-ray Laser Be Replaced?

Yes. The optical laser is an internal component of the Xbox One Blu-ray drive and can be replaced without replacing the complete console or motherboard.

The Xbox One must be professionally dismantled and the Blu-ray drive removed before the optical assembly can be accessed.

Once the repair has been completed, the drive is reassembled and tested to confirm that discs are being recognised and read correctly.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How much does an Xbox One laser repair cost?

Our Original Xbox One Blu-ray laser repair costs £54.99. This includes the standard laser repair, professional fitting, reassembly and testing.

Why is my Xbox One not reading game discs?

A failing Blu-ray laser is one possible cause, particularly when the drive accepts and ejects discs normally but repeatedly fails to recognise multiple known-working games. Damaged discs and other drive faults can produce similar symptoms, so the cause should be confirmed before replacing the laser.

Can you replace the Xbox One Blu-ray laser?

Yes. Where testing confirms that the optical laser is faulty, the laser assembly can be replaced while retaining the console's original Blu-ray drive.

Can you repair an Xbox One that reads some games but not others?

Yes. An ageing or deteriorating optical laser can become increasingly unreliable before failing completely. We recommend first testing several clean, known-working discs to rule out individual disc damage.

Does this repair fix an Xbox One that will not accept discs?

No. If the console will not physically accept, load or eject a disc, this normally requires our separate Xbox One disc loading and eject repair rather than the Blu-ray laser repair.

Do you replace the complete Xbox One Blu-ray drive?

Not for a standard laser fault. The original Blu-ray drive is retained and the faulty optical laser assembly is repaired or replaced where required.

Is this repair for the Xbox One S or Xbox One X?

No. This service is specifically for the Original Xbox One. Xbox One S and Xbox One X consoles have their own dedicated laser repair services.

Does the Xbox One laser repair have a warranty?

Yes. The repair includes our 3-month repair warranty covering the original repaired fault.

Can I bring my Xbox One directly to Console Wizard?

Yes. Local customers can bring their Original Xbox One directly to our Bolton, Greater Manchester repair centre during normal opening hours without an appointment.

Can I send my Xbox One from anywhere in the UK?

Yes. Our Original Xbox One Blu-ray laser repair service is available throughout the UK using our mail-in repair service.

    Highly Recommended !

I highly recommend this company, the best company I have dealt with online. I found this company whilst searching for an alternative to sending my Xbox One away to Microsoft, I was a little nervous, but they explained I could bring my console down in person to their premises. They repaired my console whilst I waited, they even made me a coffee. I will definitely use this company again.
