Is your desktop PC faulty but you are unsure what is causing the problem, or is the repair you require not listed elsewhere on our website?
Select our professional PC fault diagnosis service. For £20, our engineers will investigate the reported problem and determine the likely cause of the fault.
Once diagnosis has been completed, we will contact you with an explanation of what we have found and advise you of the appropriate repair price.
If the recommended repair proceeds successfully, the £20 diagnosis fee is deducted from the final repair cost.
PC Faults We Can Diagnose
Desktop computer faults can originate from hardware, software, storage, power or motherboard circuitry.
Our diagnosis service can be used for problems including:
• PC completely dead
• No power
• Intermittent power
• PC powers on but does not boot
• No display
• Random crashes or freezing
• Unexpected shutdowns
• Windows boot problems
• Storage faults
• Overheating
• Unusual fan behaviour
• Motherboard faults
• Intermittent or unusual behaviour
If you already know which repair is required and that repair is listed separately on our website, please select the specific repair instead.
How PC Fault Diagnosis Works
Our engineers begin with the symptoms you have reported and inspect the relevant areas of the computer.
Depending on the fault, diagnosis may involve checking power supplies, storage, memory, cooling, Windows operation, motherboard circuitry or other hardware.
The exact diagnostic process varies because a PC that is completely dead requires different testing from a computer that crashes intermittently or fails to boot Windows.
Component-Level Motherboard Diagnosis
Some desktop PC faults originate from the motherboard rather than a replaceable drive, PSU or other modular component.
Where appropriate, our engineers can investigate motherboard faults at component level rather than automatically assuming the entire motherboard must be replaced.
If component-level motherboard repair is required, we will explain the fault and provide the appropriate repair price before proceeding.
We Contact You Before Additional Repair Work
Once we have identified the likely cause of the fault, we will contact you with our findings and the repair cost.
We will not carry out additional chargeable repair work without your approval.
If you decide not to proceed with the repair, the £20 diagnosis fee remains payable.
£20 Diagnosis Fee
The £20 charge covers the diagnostic investigation when a subsequent repair is not completed.
If you approve the recommended repair and it is completed successfully, the £20 diagnosis fee is deducted from the final repair price.
The diagnosis itself is not a repair and therefore does not carry a repair warranty. Any subsequent successful repair receives the applicable repair warranty.
What Do I Need to Bring or Send?
For most desktop PC diagnosis jobs, we normally require the computer base unit itself.
You generally do not need to provide the monitor, keyboard, mouse or other accessories unless one of those items is directly related to the reported fault.
If an accessory is necessary to reproduce the problem, please include it or tell us when booking the diagnosis.
