What does a USB-C modification change?

The conversion replaces the original Nintendo charging socket with a USB-C connection. After installation, you use a suitable USB-C cable and power source instead of the original proprietary charger.

This is a permanent modification. It modernises the charging connection but does not add USB file transfer or fast charging.

Compatible conversions support both USB-A to USB-C and USB-C to USB-C charging. Check the service listing for your exact model before ordering.

The Nintendo DS, DS Lite, DSi, DSi XL, 3DS, 3DS XL, New 3DS and New 3DS XL are different consoles. Installation details and prices can vary.

Before booking, check the model printed on your console and select its matching service. If you are unsure, contact us with a photograph of the console and model label so we can help you choose.

Is your console already having charging problems?

Tell us if your console stops charging, the connection feels loose or charging works only when you move the cable.

A damaged socket may be suitable for replacement or conversion, but a charging fault can also originate elsewhere inside the console. We assess the fault before deciding what work is required.

Let us know about previous repairs or dismantling, particularly if the charging socket has already been worked on. If additional chargeable work is needed, we explain it and obtain your approval before proceeding.

What happens when you book?

Choose the USB-C modification for your exact model and read the listing’s price, included work and conditions.

You can then bring your console to our Bolton repair centre or select the appropriate postal service. Our engineer carries out the agreed modification and tests charging operation before the console is returned.

Successfully completed modifications include a three-month warranty from the repair date covering the modification and original repaired fault. Unrelated faults and subsequent accidental, physical or liquid damage are excluded.

We are open Monday to Friday, 9:30am–5:30pm. No appointment is required for local drop-off.

Customers elsewhere in the UK can send their console to us. Check the available shipping options when ordering; postage is separate from the modification price.
